These victorian earrings feature very fine deep purple Siberian amethyst. They date from the 1900’s. The back of the earrings are 18K yellow gold with the fronts being platinum. The diamonds that form a halo around the amethyst are set in platinum. Each Diamond is a old round cut secured with prongs. There are 18 diamond in each earring for a total of 36 at roughly 1.75 mm each. This equates to an estimated total carat weight of diamonds at roughly 0.72 Carats. The Amethysts are such a striking color, Infact I had to test them three times as I thought they were so full of fire that they might be sapphires, but they are a very fine Siberian amethyst which is prong set in platinum as well. Each Amethyst weight roughly 3.7 carats for a total of roughly 7.4 CTW. The halos feature a soldiered eye loop which is suspended by a chain on each side leading to the earlier. I have added a 14K yellow gold Ear wire to both earrings as they came with none……… I just couldn’t leave them as is……. The condition of these earrings is fabulous. I see one tiny chip on one diamond at the very top inside of the halo. Natural inclusion but very few in the amethysts. Tested as platinum and 18K with contemporary 14K Ear wires. Diamonds: roughly 0.72 carats total weight. Amethyst: Total carat weight of roughly 7.4. Halo North to south & East to West: 16 mm, x 13.75 mm. Circa: 1900s (Ear wires contemporary).
